A couple of sketches I did just before the protests got ugly and people started burning cop cars. I was at Spadina and Richmond, downtown Toronto just by happenstance. The art store I work at happened to be where the riot police chose to sit and wait people marching in protest. The G20 summit was held right downtown. My pictures are even shakier then usual because I was being chased by the police. Unnerving.
Anyway, I found the image of all the riot police gathered around the sculpture of a giant thimble really compelling. It's the fashion district, which explains the thimble. There were hundreds of cops. It was surreal. Really like something from Banksy.
