Thanks so much George! I would love to have a beautiful, portable collection of these stories. I just picked up volume1 of the complete Popeye and it's really unwieldy.I've never had much control over format in the past though. my first book is a Christmas book released as 20 dollar hardcover and not everyone wants to buy that for their kids.

I have the first Hellboy Library edition - it is LOVELY
I still need to pick up the second one.

I could easily see your stuff in hardcover.
I imagine small books - cloth bound hardcover with embossed spine title, and a cover pic glued to the front over the cloth. Very traditional.

Your drawings have a such a lovelyness to them, a thoughtfulness, that if I was a publishers agent designing the "packaging" - I would try to make the consumer feel that same preciousness with the books design itself.
Some one should pick it up, and feel it is heirloom quality.

These are absolutely fantastic! Everything said previously is true, they pull you in to the moment beautifully.
To address the topic of format, I too am partial to the french hardcover. L'association did some nice sort of digest size stuff with Stanislas' work. It's kind of intimate and portable.

Hey, it's easy for the viewer to enjoy the exploration, too. You're drawings have a way of pulling the viewer right into the action. It's amazing how one panel can instantly show how likable the characters are (and are stories in and among themselves) and really want more.

thanks Erin! funny you should say that i was just listening to sideBar the other day and they were discussing exactly that : the format of comic books. When I first see a strangely shaped comic I'm a bit weary at first but I get over it pretty quick. Like right now I'm reading the Peanuts collections and they have a long, landscape type format and it's a really easy read.It really suits the material.And I love the European format. Have you been getting the Hellboy library editions? I haven't seen them yet and I'm wondering what they're like.
For the time being I'm producing them as minicomics, I plan to have parts 1 and 2 done by December 10th and the publisher will publish them as a webcomic. I have to admit, i don't think of them as a webcomic though but I do think they are suitable for a variety of different publishing formats.

I haven't thought too hard about how I envisage the final books. I'd love to do them as hardcovers. Maybe avoid having them look too much like picture books.Possibly a smaller format like Owly or Korgi.I like the idea of smaller books.

I would really love to see some of your work in the format the French use for comics - that wider hardcover look is lovely.
